What off road motorcycle training actually is
Off road motorcycle training is structured coaching that teaches you how to control a bike on loose, uneven ground, rather than simply “having a go” and hoping it clicks. A good day blends clear demonstrations, practical drills and plenty of riding time, with feedback that helps you progress safely and steadily. At SR75 Off Road, experience days are designed to improve confidence, control and technique in a relaxed, friendly and professional environment.
Who it’s for
Off road training is ideal if you are:
- Completely new to off road riding and want a calm, supportive start
- A road rider moving to trails or adventure riding who wants better control on dirt
- Looking to build confidence, sharpen technique and ride with more consistency
Coaching should be adapted to your level, whether you are learning core skills or refining more advanced techniques.
What you’ll ride and why it matters
The bike can make or break your first off road experience. Confidence-inspiring, well-prepared motorcycles let you focus on technique rather than worrying about the machine. SR75 Off Road uses specially prepared Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and DR-Z4S motorcycles chosen for their balance and capability on varied terrain.
What to expect on the day
Welcome, safety briefing and bike allocation
Your day typically starts at the welcome centre with introductions, a safety briefing and your bike allocation before heading out onto the course. Everyone must attend the briefing and follow instructor guidance throughout the day to keep things safe and productive.
Structured skills training and practical riding sessions
Expect structured skills training followed by practical riding sessions focused on building confidence and control. Coaching should include demonstrations, drills and constructive feedback that you can apply immediately.
Small groups and personal feedback
Group size matters because it determines how much individual coaching you get. SR75 Off Road limits group sizes to a maximum of six riders, with one-to-one tuition also available if you want focused, tailored development.
How structured coaching improves confidence quickly
Most road riders struggle at first because off road grip is different and the bike moves around more. Structured coaching helps you understand what “normal” movement feels like and how to stay relaxed and in control. With repeated drills and timely feedback, you build habits that transfer to real-world riding: better balance, smoother inputs and calmer decision-making when conditions change.
What to bring and how to prepare
Arrive ready to ride with suitable gear, including a helmet, protective clothing and appropriate boots. You should be fit to ride and declare any relevant medical conditions during the health and safety process.
